Notes for Samuel H. Blake (B)
In 1930 Census
313, in household of John (62) and Annie E. (60) were rooming:
Samuel Blake (38) - [born ca 1892]
David Glen Jr. (18)
and Lula Bennet (23), granddaughter of John Hussey [Lula born ca 1907]
My guess is that Samuel Blake and Lula Bennet married.
Nancy Conklin knew this couple. Lived on Willow St., CI
Sam made tombstones by casting cement into blocks and then imprinted the information on the wet cement. One’s he made are in Odd Fellows: Maude Crippin (1886-1945), Eliz. Blake (1841-1924), and Lucy Hussey (1860-?).
312Terry Howard remembers Sam Blake as a tall man who worked for a number of people, including Terry’s father, doing masonry jobs.
189 Nancy Conklin told me the same thing.
Tombstone in Odd Fellows gives:
Samuel H. Blake (h/o Lula) PFC 131 Labor Batallion QMC, 27 Oct. 1890 - 11 Aug 1960
110and there is a Samuel blake b 1/22/1888 the son of Frank and Elizabeth Blake living in Acc., but the birth date does not match the tombstone (10/27/1890)
